               Every               day,               an               army               of               people               invades               homes               in               America               -               to               fix               or               improve               them.

The               list               of               invaders               includes               plumbers,               carpenters,               electricians,               landscapers,               exterminators               and,               of               course,               the               UPS               driver.
               When               custom               framer               Jennifer               Smith               comes               to               your               house,               however,               she's               looking               at               only               one               thing               -               your               art.
               "I               can               help               people               make               their               art               part               of               their               home,"               begins               Jennifer,               "by               coordinating               their               art               with               their               furniture               style               and               matching               frames               and               frame               styles               to               the               overall               theme               of               the               room."
               Jennifer's               custom               framing               business               -               located               in               Clayton,               NJ,               east               of               Philadelphia               -               specializes               in               coming               to               a               client's               home               and               framing               an               art               piece               that               fits               with               the               furniture               and               design               of               the               home.
               "People               like               that               I               can               work               with               them               in               their               own               home,"               says               Jennifer.

"This               way               I               can               see               where               the               art               will               be               displayed               and               what               surrounds               the               framed               piece               and               can               customize               with               all               that               in               mind."
               For               example,               Jennifer               has               a               customer,               David               Unkle,               who               has               autographed               photos               from               famous               musicians               like               Chicago,               Earth               Wind               and               Fire,               Debbie               Gibson,               Sheryl               Crow,               and               Styx,               as               well               as               athletes               such               as               Eagles               great               Chuck               Bendarik,               John               McEnroe,               Notre               Dame               football               overachiever               Rudy               Ruettiger,               and               the               1980               U.S.Olympic               Hockey               Team.
               David               initially               hired               Jennifer               to               frame               these               signed               jerseys               and               celebrity               photographs               by               working               with               Jennifer               at               her               studio               in               Clayton.
               But               once               Jennifer               came               to               the               client's               home,               she               could               scan               all               of               the               many               pieces               of               autographed               pieces               he               had               and               then               frame               and               hang               the               pieces               in               his               finished               basement.
               "We've               got               sports               figures               on               one               wall,"               says               Jennifer,               "and               then               musicians               on               another               wall.

It               has               nice               organic               feel               of               a               museum               tour."
               A               Smith               by               any               other               name…
               Jennifer               Smith               is               a               South               Jersey               native               who               lives               in               a               100               year-old               home               near               Rowan               University               and               has               painted               a               canvas               of               exceptional               life               experiences.
She               has               attended               SUNY               College               near               Woodstock               NY               for               photography               and               then               spent               a               year               at               the               University               of               the               Arts               in               Philadelphia               before               receiving               her               degree.

She's               also               worked               in               AmeriCorps,               which               offers               opportunities               to               help               disadvantaged               youth               through               activities               that               range               from               fighting               illiteracy               to               teaching               computer               skills.

Jennifer               chose               to               teach               inner-city               kids               what               she               knew               best               -               art,               working               with               children               on               everything               drawing               to               collage.
               As               part               of               her               art               resume,               Jennifer               spent               time               working               at               the               Garth               Davidson               Art               Gallery               in               Moorestown               NJ,               which               is               an               exclusive               gallery               in               the               Philly               area               displaying               such               as               Penny               Ashman,               Karen               Smith               and               William               Stewart.
               As               for               Jennifer's               photography,               it's               been               shown               in               such               places               as               the               distinguished               Hartford               Gallery               in               Connecticut.

Her               photography               focuses               on               textural               movement,               such               as               photographing               room               miniatures               in               a               wood               dollhouse.
               Her               photographs               have               even               been               displayed               at               an               art               show               in               a               Philadelphia               warehouse.
               "For               most               people,               framing               is               incidental               to               the               art,"               says               Jennifer.

"But               in               your               home,               the               framing               and               the               matting               all               contribute               to               how               the               art               piece               displays               in               your               home."
               In               2003,               Jennifer               became               the               Galley               Manager               at               franchiser               The               Great               Frame               Up               in               Sewell               NJ,               located               40               minutes               west               of               Atlantic               City.
               As               store               manager,               Jennifer               framed               Donovan               McNabb               autographed               jerseys,               restored               Depression-era               photos               and               designed               a               shadow               boxes               with               collectors'               items               that               range               from               a               gun               holster               to               a               wedding               veil.
               Then               in               2010,               the               store               that               Jennifer               managed               closed               its               doors               --               a               victim               of               the               economic               recession.

With               a               roster               of               loyal               clients,               Jenn               started               her               own               custom               framing               business,               converting               her               garage               to               her               framing               studio.
"I               called               my               business               Jenn               Smith               Framing,"               Jennifer               chuckles,"and               my               family               and               clients               tease               me               for               my               lack               of               creativity               in               the               business               name."               But               she               likes               the               simplicity               of               the               name               and               Jenn               feels               that               her               reputation               for               creativity               and               design               excellence               are               the               best               advertisements               for               her               business.
               In               2009,               Jennifer               also               became               an               adjunct               professor               at               Camden               County               College,               teaching               graphic               design.
               "I               love               teaching               because               you               see               the               enthusiasm               and               creative               juices               of               a               new               generation,"               says               Jennifer.
               Not               Part               Time               but               Art               Time
               Jennifer's               roster               of               clients               has               increased               to               nearly               500               as               her               business               has               grown               through               word               of               mouth               advertising               and               continued               excellence.
               Her               latest               projects               include               doing               a               shadow               box               with               a               Wizard               of               Oz               theme,               grouping               of               antique               wedding               photographs               and               memorabilia,               Jermaine               Rogers               limited               editions,               a               Mike               Trout               baseball               jersey,               and               diplomas.
               "I'm               so               happy               that               my               business               model               is               to               meet               people               in               their               homes               and               design               their               framed               art               right               there,"               admits               Jennifer.

"People               feel               so               comfortable               and               I               get               a               bird's               eye               view               of               their               tastes."
               While               custom               framing               isn't               for               everyone,               Jennifer               admits,               it's               not               as               expensive               as               some               think               and               if               you're               framing               a               graduation               or               wedding               photo,               you               want               the               best               product               possible.
